Terry has over 40 years of educational experience in a range of contexts including schools, systems (state and national) and university. Since 2009 Terry has worked extensively as an educational consultant to Department of Education and Catholic Education schools. He has also worked to provide consultancy services to local government and the University sector and has worked extensively in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander education space across Australia. Professional Profile
Terry has expertise in educational, government and not for profit organisations. He was the Program Director for Role Models & Leaders Australia (2009-2016), a not for profit organisation, that provides a range of engagement programs to Indigenous students in Western Australia, the Northern Territory and New South Wales. He has also led successful Parent and Community Engagement Programs in the Kalgoorlie community aimed at building the capacity of parents to support student achievement.
In the educational arena Terry has been Principal of Murdoch College (2008), Mount Lawley SHS (2002-2007) and Yule Brook College (formerly Maddington SHS) (1999-2002). He has extensive experience in change management and the development of Middle School and Senior School structures and approaches. At Mount Lawley SHS he led the $41 million re-building program and the design and development of the separate Middle School and Senior School approaches. At Yule Brook he led the re-development of the school from senior high school to purpose designed Year 8-10 Middle School.
He has worked as an educational consultant to the Catholic Education Office (2010-2013) where led the Leading Educational Achievement through Dialogue (LEAD) process around teaching and learning in the middle years. This process engaged schools across Perth, Bunbury, Mandurah, Albany and Broome. He also led the Pedagogy Project which developed Middle Leader capacity and enhance the pedagogical practices and capacity of teams of teachers. Terry also worked with middle leaders in a range of catholic schools to build leadership capacity to lead and manage change and improvement processes and mobilise teams to effect change.
Aboriginal Experiences
Role Models & Leaders Australia
Terry was Chief Operations Officer for Girls Academy (an initiative of Role Models & Leaders Australia) (2009-2020). Role Models & Leaders Australia was a not-for-profit organisation, that provides a range of engagement program to Indigenous girls in Western Australia, the Northern Territory, New South Wales and Queensland. Role Models and Leaders Australia (RMLA) operated forty-one (41) Indigenous Girls Academies across Australia and supports close to 2500 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls.
Over ten years, Terry led Girls Academy program expansion from two academies with 100 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls to 41 academies with 2500 girls. In this role he led and managed program development, delivery, program operations and a workforce of over 120 staff.
