The What and Why of Coaching

It is important to understand what coaching is, and when we use it.

  • Coaching is the process of equipping people with the tools, knowledge and opportunities they need to fully develop themselves to be effective in their commitment to themselves, the organisation and their work.

  • Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximise their own performance.

  • Coaching is a leadership behaviour that lies at the opposite end of the spectrum to command and control.

  • Coaching is NOT mentoring or counselling
