Background
Simon specialises in helping leaders create high-performing teams, and he currently delivers various programs for Western Australian companies and international clients. Simon has successful and extensive experience leading world-class teams in elite sports and personally coached the Cycling Team Pursuit in three Olympic Games. Simon’s educational background is in applied exercise science, which taught him how to learn, and research, and he has strong data and analytical skills.
Simon was awarded the prestigious UK Sports Coach of the Year in 2004 following an outstanding Athens Olympic Games and has contributed to international sporting success in professional and Olympic cycling. Simon has personally coached dozens of elite world champions in cycling, an Olympic champion, and multiple Commonwealth champions and has attended 4 Olympic Games. He was also the Head Coach at British Cycling and then Head of Innovation at Team Sky, the most successful professional cycling team in history.
More recently, Simon led the $12m pa budget, 40-person workforce and 100 team members, Australian Cycling Team as Performance Director. Simon led with a focus on the people, creating a purposeful environment with a clear strategy and milestone targets. He implemented a ‘marginal gains’ approach toward improving systems and processes. Simon’s performance mantra is ‘progress, not perfection, and he is passionate about working with a diverse client base to pursue higher performance.
